Green Kitchen

Posted on 18:47 by Unknown
Just because this place calls itself the Green Kitchen does not mean it is Vegetarian or particularly health conscious or anything...Let's just see what Yelp'ers say--Hmm, it is basically just a diner, but gets very good reviews on the whole for that...also considering it is the Upper East Side etc.

One review says it is open 24 hours but that may have changed...better check if you plan to go here at 4 a.m. or something

Is the food so delicious that it is out of this world? No. However this is the upper east side, and this world is fit with sub-par people and restaurants cater to this lametry, and offer mediocre service, because they are so fed up with a 30 something crowd that still believes they are living the "good ol' college days". This diner is NOT that type of place.
Always ask for the sweet brunette  waitress. She delivers some of the best service you've Never had. I kid you not, she honors every request and if the kitchen messes up, believe you me, she will remedy any problem.
The food is great too, Not too expensive, and pretty tasty. I usually order the mexican omelette, food is also never greasy.

Highly Recommended at 1-4 am, when you are trying to drown your sorrows because the worst team in the NBA just won the title.

One of the better looking 24 hour diners in NYC. And everything you would expect from a 24 hour diner: slow service, not so clean tables nearby, decent food depending on what you order. The chicken souvlaki platter and tuna sandwich were both pretty good. As was the turkey burger. What you shouldn't get is the chocolate chip cookie. It tasted like vomit that has been dried under the sun. Yuck!!

If you are hungry at all odd hours of the night when normal people are sleeping, this is as good as it gets.

This is a great neighborhood spot with excellent food and service. It's like a step up from a diner with the same menu experience. Highly recommend.

I'd say this is a pretty good diner on the UES. I mean is there anything innovative or that you've never had before? No. But the menu has a ton of options and everything is pretty tasty. The food comes out quickly and the service is good as well. I thought the prices were pretty cheap for the quality and portion size. Great place to grab a bite to eat!

Above average diner food, pretty reasonable.   The staff is very on point with the coffee and water.  Of the diners in the area definitely this is one of my go to's.

    Ehhhhh....

Green Kitchen's food isn't bad at all.....Their service just sucks.

I could leave my review at that but instead I will elaborate like the good Yelper I am.  A friend and I stopped by Green Kitchen recently for a light lunch.  We both wanted salad so we kinda/sorta knew what we wanted when we sat down.  Our waiter seemed on top of things at first but that slowly dwindled away.  I ordered the Mediterranean salad, which is similar to a Greek salad but not quite.  Our salads came out and I saw my salad had feta instead of mozzarella, which meant it was the Greek salad.  I didn't really care since everything else was correct so I started pouring the dressing on.  The waiter ran back, said it was wrong, was about to take it, I said it was fine since the cheese was the only difference.  He left it alone then went to whoever actually ordered the Greek salad and had a conniption of his own about it being incorrect.

While we were eating, the two tables next to us grew more and more frustrated as the waiter would stop by, screw up their to-go order, and not bring their check no matter how many times it was requested.  When we asked for our check, he took about 10 minutes or so to get it to us.  Again the food here is really good and fresh.  Their stuffed grape leaves are pretty awesome.  The service is just extremely spotty and unreliable.  I would come back and give them another go.

Great all around diner on the UES!

When I lived in this neighborhood I probably ate here at least once a week.  Especially late nights, and late mornings.

Favorites:  Grilled chicken churasco sandwich (cordon blue style, topped with ham and swiss, with side of honey mustard and fries),  Mozzarella sticks and a chocolate shake.  The shakes are pretty thick, and if you're cool with them, they'll give you the big metal mixing container (old school diner style) so you actually get like a shake and a half.  Waffle fries with chees and gravy.  The monte cristo sandwich.

Its just good comfort food that's open 24/7 with an awesome staff
