I stumbled on this gem with a coworker yesterday, while looking for a good happy hour. Didn't quite find that here, but the restaurant/bar was cool and refreshing, which was a nice break from all the loud and sticky outdoor places.
I was just going to get a drink, but I couldn't help but glance at the menu. When I saw the words lobster and avocado, I knew there was no turning back. So instead of getting my weekly Chipotle, I opted for this delicious salad, and I have no regrets! It was light and refreshing, and the lobster was very fresh. There was also a very generous portion of lobster, which pleased me to no end.
I will definitely be back for this salad, and am also looking forward to trying the grilled peach salad and other menu delights.

New York, NYI stumbled upon Hendriks and found the space to be a good addition to the neighborhood. The bar was designed well, presenting a full bar and having a communal extension where you can sit.
Food was OK. Service staff was friendly. Everyone seems a bit overwhelmed and hurried. I'd like to see how the space turns out in a month. Ideally, if I could, I'd give it a three and a half stars. I would likely return for an easy drink after work or for a quick bite.
FYI It's been open for only 2 weeks but it was crowded so that's a good sign. I hope it turns out well given the atmosphere/decor/bar.-

Manhattan, NYHendriks is obviously very new, but I think it can develop into a solid spot. Nothing on the menu that we tried was to die for, but we had some tasty bites, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. It's definitely a nice place for a late night drink or romantic dinner.
We tried the:

Sopressata with Honey Figs & Parmesan
Grilled Peach Salad with Hazelnuts & Blue Cheese
Crab Cake
The fritters were very tasty, perfectly crispy, but I wish there had been more with the order. Same goes for the Sopressata, which seemed a sad portion for $8. We also found it kind of an odd dish with just the sliced meat on the plate (which wasn't made clear by the description). It also needed a little bit of acid from a balsamic drizzle to add a second dimension of flavor, or some crusty bread for texture!
The peach salad was delicious, and a great size for sharing, and the crab cake was also very tasty. The pickled salad on the side was a nice compliment to the richness of the aioli. There are obviously good flavors going on in this kitchen, even if some parts missed the mark.
Some parts of Hendrik's operation are a bit confusing (like the difference between "bites" and "appetizers"), and the kitchen is obviously still getting itself situated, but I'll chalk it up to being new and come back to try it again! -

Manhattan, NYLive near Hendriks so decided to try it for brunch. We had huevos rancheros and baked eggs with spinach and chorizo. Both dishes were delicious, especially the baked eggs. The waitstaff was also very nice.
I asked for egg whites and they charged an extra $3, which seemed a hefty price for a healthier alternative. The menu pricing in general was a bit strange, too. Most notably, the American Breakfast (2 eggs, bacon, toast) was priced at $15, but if I had ordered each component individually as sides, it would have totaled $12. I wish this dish was around $10 for a standard, go-to option.
It seems like they're still trying to figure out their groove, but hopefully this will develop into a solid, much-needed neighborhood spot. Great atmosphere and diverse menu. I will definitely come back! -

Manhattan, NYHendriks is so new, I doubt they even remembered to turn on the lights and A/C. Dropped by for HH and was quite disappointed. The place was sweltering and there was only a handful of people inside. The beer was not cold and the service was slow. Really need a good joint in the neighborhood, still havent found it. -

Manhattan, NYStrong SEWER smell!!!! As soon as we walked in, it smelled like a rancid fart. A group of my friends went here for drinks. The bartenders are TERRIBLE! They have no idea what they are serving. The one serving me poured a different kind of wine into my used glass. And, when I asked for another glass, she said "I don't have a whole glass in this bottle," then had me choose another wine off the menu. After already buying a whole bottle of wine, she didn't even just pour the remainder. When that new wine was a little rotten tasting, she offered no other option or apology. The management has A LOT of work to do. Would not recommend this place. -

New York, NYCame here after work with some of my girlfriends for a drink. They have a cool bar which has an extended part that serves as an island so you can stand on either side with your friends. I thought it was innovative and a unique touch.
They didn't have a cocktail menu printed yet but have a full bar. I opted for a $8 glass of red which was pretty good. Would like to come back to try out the menu. Did have a taste of my friend's seasoned fries which were tasty.
Seems like a great addition to the neighborhood! -

New York, NYStopped in today with a friend for lunch. We both had the burgers with Parmesan flavored fries. The burgers were fabulous - one of the best I've had in years! The wait staff was super attentive and the place is nice and clean (although it is brand new). My only 'complaint' is that the fries were not hot which I think can be an easy fix. Other than that, I give this new restaurant two thumbs up. It's a nice addition to the neighborhood. -

New York, NYI loved this place, and I am very excited to come back and try the rest of its menu. The food at Hendrik's is very good, though I don't think it is a "destination" for foodies yet. There were neither bold flavors nor innovative preparations, and the menu avoided pretentious references to the pedigree of its ingredients or the noble ambitions of its culinary manifesto. On the other hand, neither is this merely glorified pub fare. At this point (only two days old), It is simply an excellent choice for a friendly, casual dinner of well-prepared classics in a clean, inviting space.
The bread was noticeably toasted and dry, but sopped up the excellent spicy oil nicely. Salmon tartare was served simply in a water glass, with diced salmon studded and three small fingerling chips above a thin layer of diced beets. The beets were cooked to the same slightly al dente texture as the raw salmon, but they were both somewhat under-seasoned. This blandness, perhaps intentional, was remedied with the crisp, perfectly salted fingerling chips; but alas, only three chips were provided for a cup full of tartare that seemed to require at least 6-8 chips. Nonetheless, this was a mere peccadillo--I happily finished it. The grilled peach salad was a delightful companion to fresh, crisp frisee lightly dressed with lemon vinaigrette and a mild, creamy, parsimonious crumbling of blue cheese. I have it on hearsay that the burger was "really good," and my first-hand observations confirmed that the fries were fantastic--they even tasted like potatoes, as opposed to deep-fried salt (which, alas, too many fries do). The trout was cooked to a flaky ideal and paired well with the tartness of a tomato remoulade, although there may have been slightly too much sauce on top of it. I am a big fan of this trout. The roast chicken was great but not transcendent (rarely is roast chicken transcendent); I happily finished it, as the skin was flavorful and the dark meat tender, but the white meat was slightly on the dry side. Of the two desserts we tried, I felt that the tiramisu was excellent--delicate, not too sweet, and well-presented. I thought the flourless chocolate cake fell flat, although others at the table claimed to really like it. I found it too rich, firm and cloyingly sweet; though, in fairness, I did not try it with the ice cream.
The service was extremely friendly and attentive. As this was only the second day of being open, there were of course some minor miscues (our waitress had not tried all of the dishes, did not know the difference between the two rieslings on the menu, entrees were brought out before appetizers had been cleared, and dessert menus were brought out before entrees had been cleared). These should be forgiven; I am sure that within a couple of weeks things will flow more seamlessly. On fundamentals, the service was excellent: our waitress was extremely friendly, checked up on us often, and seemed genuinely interested in making sure we were enjoying our meal. Our water glasses were not allowed to become empty, and everything was delivered exactly as we ordered it.
I am very excited about this restaurant. The food is unpretentious and delicious. I am looking forward to coming back and trying every dish on the menu. I am sure that, with time, Hendrik's will only get better, because they appear to care deeply about the quality of the dining experience and making sure that the customers leave satisfied. Also, I have not even tried their drinks, and they appear to have a well-stocked bar. Finally, the space is beautiful. I love the exposed brick, and it is a joy to eat in a new restaurant where all of the tables are sturdy, all the silverware and plates are brand-new, and there is an air of cautious optimism that our neighborhood has become a more pleasant place to eat. -

Sherman Oaks, CAMy wife and i went to Hendriks on their first day of business as we had seen it being built and were excited to try it out as it was a new place in the neighborhood to dine. And to our happiness, it was GREAT! The atmosphere, service, food, drink, all top notch! As a matter of fact, it was so good we went back the next day for lunch and brought a few friends, and they too enjoyed it as well! -

Manhattan, NYGreat new neighborhood restaurant opened today on third and 37th street - ..Our dinner was beyond delicious with all dishes given an amazing attention to detail in terms of taste and presentation -- served in a beautiful dining room with a casual elegance -- definitely will be our go-to place for a perfect meal. We ordered a few dishes from the "bites" menu including the deviled eggs and soppressata with figs and both exceeded our foodie expectations. Must-haves from the entrees include the lobster risotto, scallops and trout. In a neighborhood with hundreds of mediocre places to eat - Hendriks is a real gem worth visiting.
