Day& Meyer Murray&Young

Posted on 13:05 by Unknown
You can't miss this place if you are up on Second Avenue near the 59th Street Bridge, but the only review I could find was from Wikipedia, with the disclaimer that the review " had issues."

Since it is basically just an advertisement for the place, which as noted has been around for years and years, all I can say is that you have to remember no one with any crticisms has posted anything on the internet (Yelp has no entries).

The history part is probably pretty trustworthy....

Day & Meyer, Murray & Young is a secure speciality for fine art moving & storage, storage solutions, movers. It have services like no other for storage facility.

Review

Day & Meyer, Murray & Young, an art deco building filled with portable steel vaults, feels more like a fantasy than a storage facility in Midtown Manhattan. Clients frequently tell us “there’s nothing quite like it in the city.” Started in 1896, DMMY is now in its third generation of family ownership. A distinguishing element of DMMY is its staff. When you think of storing your stuff in Manhattan, you don’t usually expect the people to be friendly, but DMMY has very little turnover and the environment is quite welcoming. Due to a long-standing relationship with Collins Brothers Moving Company, DMMY is able to accommodate and arrange long-distance moves with ease. Moves are arranged by a professional moving consultant and planned and supervised by a project manager.
Probably the most distinct feature of DMMY is their portovault system, solid steel containerized storage units 7’ x 7’ x 11’ in size. The vaults have a customized loading process, which operates on a tracking system. The staff will bring the unit to you in a specialized truck, load it up and take it to DMMY’s facility where they are stored on floors kept at a chilly sixty degrees for a cost of $300 per month. Prices are slightly higher if engaging in a landlord-tenant arrangement (in which the client is self-insured and has his/her own lock). Private rooms (10’ x 10’ x 10’) are available at a price of $710 per month and are also temperature and humidity controlled. Additional, smaller storage can be arranged and price varies according to the item. Discrete viewings of artwork and other pieces can be arranged through DMMY for average handling fees. No dangerous materials, jewelry, coins, cash or perishable items may be stored at DMMY, but people have stored items such as papers, musical instruments and wine.
Clients vary from art dealers to interior designers and, of course, average New Yorkers who have either downsized and need a place to store their items or are in the middle of a move. Longstanding relationships with clients show the kind of loyalty people feel towards DMMY. Clearly not worth the expense for storing your old college textbooks, but for special valuables, Day & Meyer, Murray & Young provides an extremely high level of security with a personal touch and is a pleasure visiting to boot.

Representiative (from other people non-other then someone I knew)

“I’ve worked with them for 15 years.” “They’re always available and accommodating.” “I’ve never used a comparable facility. There simply is no other place like it. “They’ve helped me sell over 2,000 pieces from transport to import.” “The only place I trust to handle my art.” “The staff is proactive.” "I've worked with DMMY for 20 years and have used them for all of my projects." "I implicitly trust them with my clients' merchandise and my own merchandise." "I even keep my own furniture stored with them." "The staff is so accommodating and personal; they're like an extension of my office to me." "I use then for local deliveries, long-distance moves and shipping." "A wonderful plus is that they're located right in the middle of Manhattan so I don't have to worry about traveling outside of the city to see my items."
