Upper West Side -The Kosher Marketplace

Posted on 17:59 by Unknown
Today was Saturday so this place was closed of course

Let us see what reviews say--oh yes, this again-- "service stinks" next to "great service"--
At this point though I have to interject the old joke about the waiter coming over to a group of Jewish diners in a Jewish restaurant and asking, " Is anything all right?"

I'm not Kosher, but this gem of a store offers the most delicious pre-made dishes!  Their paninis are awesome!  The salads are fresh and a tastey meal in itself! Don't forget to try the pasta dishes too!!

You cannot go wrong with ordering here on a daily basis!  (Their food makes me wish I could celebrate the Jewish holidays just so I can place my orders for the family get togethers!)

Kosher Marketplace simply would not be my choice of kosher stores, because the prices are downright prohibitive. $15 for one large frozen sausage link is outrageous. However, when I am on the UWS, I stop in to check out the samples of baked goods, and I love examining the aisles for exotic, hard-to-find items, such as Japanese mochi ice cream, Sweet Loren's parve frozen baked goods, and a brand of parve vegan cashew-based ice cream. The BBQ brisket sandwich is also usually a solid choice, and is not outrageously priced (about $9.00 for a decent-sized sandwich).

Overpriced and terrible service. The few times I have ventured in, I walked right out - it's hard to get the attention of the folks serving and it seems like the store is in a constant disarray, this could be because I would only go on Thursday or Friday.

The highpoint is that their prepared foods are very good.

The service is horrible and the management is rude. I had a horrible experience with a delivery order as they quoted me one price and ended up charging me twice the original amount despite no changes to the order. When I called to inquire about this, I was hung up on twice and not offered anything. Plus, the food is subpar and placing a simple order by phone took 20 minutes. Oh, it's also over priced. Stay away and I would give it a zero rating if possible.

Expensive, but the food is fresh and tasty.  The caramel sufganiot (jelly donuts) are the best I've had: Not greasy, and not too sweet.

What more can I say about the Kosher Marketplace. The minute you walk in the smell of fantatsic prepared food is ovrwelming.  The daily specials are incredible.  It's a far cry from they first opened the location, where you could barely move down the aisle.  Now it's very spacious and a lot more product is sold.  Fish, Dairy, prepared food, desserts,  The Catering they do is also fantastic. They also have take away food which is very fresh, and there meat and poultry section is fantatstic. Busies times are most of the day Thursday and Friday till the Sabbath.  And for Glatt Kosher this place stands out as the best in the city.  Parking is impossible, but they do deliver all around the 5 Boros and New Jersey and Westchester.

They have just phenomenal food and service!  I had some Buffalo Chicken Tenders for lunch today and they were unbelievable.  They also have a really cool selection of wacky products which you definitely don't see everywhere else.  They have an ice cream which is only 150 calories for the whole pint - way cool!!  I love this store.

I had the pleasure of finally following a friend's recommendation and going to The Kosher Marketplace today.  What an amazing experience!  The staff is friendly and courteous, and the array of cooked foods, fresh meats and specialty products is overwhelming.  I took home some Teriyaki Chinese Long Beans and an Organic Crunchy Quinoa Salad with Pecans. Both were amazing!!  I also bought some Organic Rainforest Honey in preparation for Rosh Hashanah.  Even though I live downtown, this will be a regular stop for me on a weekly basis.  I wish I had followed my friend's recommendation earlier!
