Yelper's seem to like the Greenwich Village one with the usual sour apples...remember, this is a chain, too and some locations are better than others ( every time I have been past this place, people eating there seem perfectly happy so no matter how many naysayers, it is finding its target audience

FOREST HILLS, NYThis place is awesome and my new favorite. It is beautiful inside: wooden tables, a large communal table, tons of space. The menu contains a good 2/3 of organic items, the prices are very adequate and comparable with non organic similar items in other eateries of this area. I had an organic vegan large bowl of soup w chick peas and quinoa, small pot of coffee and organic brown rice ritz au lait - with tax and tip spent $20, left full. Also, i sat outside and enjoy the view of the Grace church as well as their prompt and friendly service. Free wifi! Very recommended. -

Brooklyn, NYYeah, I get it. This is a cool spot to read the paper.. the interior is welcoming and staff is somewhat friendly. However.. as a french name for any store in Manhattan usually indicates, this stuff is expensive!

The bread basket is GOOD. A lot of bread, a lot of different spreads, what more could you ask for?
Also, their waffle... is overpriced for the size and it's just way too sweet to eat. I was so sad.
Also, just everything is kind of overpriced so, 3 stars. Sigh. -

This was the only spot to sit down and have some coffee that wasn't completely packed.
There is tons of space and you can choose from small tables or a spot on the two long communal tables. I did appreciate the aesthetic of all sandal wood tables and floor.
The coffee was good - service OK - menu mediocre.
Didn't eat any food (just a bite of the chocolate bread that was OK), but as a basic spot for coffee - it seems to be a good back up when your regular spot it packed. -

Nice atmosphere. Good food. But you don't get what you pay for, at all. You can eat healthily for a lot less than this. I was hoping, since they're all about bread, that that would extend to the desserts. Nope. The special blackbarry tart had no taste to it - even the berries themselves - and was tiny. Worth half of what I paid. Go for the ambiance, but don't come hungry. -

Stopped in for breakfast and was not impressed. Le Pain Quitidien is decidedly lazy in their presentation, the food was disappointing and the service dismissive. Not impressed.
We had table service and chose a seat away from the common tables to have a little privacy. Not sure why, but the waitress made a point of ignoring us for at least 20 minutes. When they did take our order of chili and an apple danish, it took forever to be served. The chili was sweet, the tomatoes under cooked, and the danish was not reheated. Also, they brought the chili and without a word left. I had to stop our waitress to ask for the danish. Not good.
My advice, put as much polished your service as in the decor and perhaps I will return. -

I really like Le Pain. It's everything I imagined eating in France would be like.* Open-faced tartine sandwiches with fresh ingredients, delicious sounding salads and a daily soup. If it's winter time and the butternut squash soup is available, just order it. Thank me later.
I recently had their watermelon cooler & it was very refreshing and delcious. I wish I had a pitcher of the stuff in my fridge for a hot summer day.
I love the long wooden communal table. It's great for people watching. The only thing is the prices. You can easily eat here for $40+ for 2 people. It's a bit excessive for a deconstructed sandwich and a couple of cornichons.
*I went to Paris. The food was mediocre & NOT like cute french tartines and fresh salads with a few scattered quiche options. Some things are better as you imagined them. -

ASTORIA, NYWhen they told me my small coffee was nearly three dollars I had a bit of sticker shock, but after taking my first sip I was somehow okay with paying that much. Not an every day treat because the prices are ridiculous, but man was that a good cup of coffee. -

Manhattan, NYI went here a few days ago to have lunch outside with my dog. The waitress took a long time to come around and clear my table of the previous customer sitting there. She started but didn't finish. The busboy came to set my napkin and utensils and i asked him to please clean the table first and he walked away. I waited and waited and no one came by. I finally got up and left. I called and talked to a girl named Jess and politely but firmly complained. I frequent this location often and was very disappointed at the lack of attentive service. It's a restaurant! -

I have loved Le Pain Quotidien since I first stepped in one in London and whenever I have that craving to catch up with a friend over pastries and coffee, I will often lead us here.
The space is large, with a huge communal table in the middle. I like sitting at the tables by the window to people watch, though. Even at its busiest moments, it never seems like it and is never loud.
The food here is often healthy, light but tasty. I usually just have a pastry like a madelene or share their cheese plate. But my friend decided we should have something new so we shared the vegan chili, which I was skeptical would taste good, but it was delicious! Who knew. As well as a sit down menu, you can buy their bread, pastries and desserts.
The staff are always friendly, quick and affable.

Charlottesville, VAWe stopped here for brunch and were glad we did...at least, as far as the food was concerned. Very well-presented and delectable, to say the least, we felt as though we were dining in France. The pastries, breads, quiches were amazing.
The service, however, was not. Our waiter was quite indifferent, never came back to check on us or refill our water, and left us sitting while he went on break (according to another waiter) without presenting our check. We had finished eating, which was quite obvious, and off he went. We wished we had a different waiter, as he appeared to be available for his customers and pleasant.
In addition, I wished to purchase their cookbook which was authored by the father of this establishment who apparently resides in Brussels. Because it was raining and I didn't wish to carry a $40 cookbook around New York City, I asked the manager if she could have one mailed to me. She abruptly advised me she was too busy (although she certainly didn't appear to be doing anything behind the pastry counter at the time) and if I wanted one, I would have to call myself. Exact words were (verbatim)..."You'll have to call yourself." I explained why I wished to have one mailed, to which she repeated herself, "You'll have to call yourself." Case closed, obviously. So much for customer satisfaction.
I feel certain if I contacted the corporate office, they wouldn't appreciate this type of response, particularly since we had just spent $51 on breakfast.
Finally, we asked the waiter who we wished had waited our table for our check. An eating establishment is only as good as the cuisine they offer, in addition to the SERVICE provided. I'm rating this a 4-star, only because of the food. The service? 1-star, at best.
I'm reading about rude employees in other locations as well. Rid this place of the callous female manager and the indifferent waiter...things might be different. -

Greenwich Village, Manhattan, NYCame here for afternoon coffee and hoped to get some work done but it turns out this place is much noisier than I expected. An the wifi was down. The cheesecake is good, although I am never a fan of cinnamon and the crust is cinnamon flavored.. My friend ordered Chai and said its also cinnamon flavored and she quite liked it. Food looks healthy. Not sure whether will come again.-

By far my favorite LPQ in the city. I feel like they actually really care at this one, and the pace is a bit slower than the ones in midtown.
You can usually get a single table in the back pretty easily, and most of them are near windows that let in a ton of light. As for the food--it's a LPQ which means you get nice spreads and generally well prepared soft boiled eggs and quiches which maybe cost a bit more than they should, but not too too much. It's tough enough finding a breakfast place that isn't too dirty, loud or snobby. This one is just right.
