Everybody I saw looked very happy to be here but who knows what tattle we will find on Yelp (unless this place is too new, too)
People seem to love the ambiance but not be all that thrilled with food ( exceptions here, of course)

Sunnyside, NYVapiano looks very trendy from the outside yet it affordable meals. They will give u a card that u swipe after ordering food and you surrender it before leaving the restaurant. The lines are long in pasta section and they cook it in front of you. The pizza and salad bar are manageable. Overall this is a nice place to retire your day after work or just grabbing a bite with your friends...
The place is nice and bathrooms are clean. -

Manhattan, NYThe food used to be good here- not anymore- the cooks are more focused on rapping than cooking, and are basically low paid thugs which reflects in the quality of the food, which is abysmal.
They won't even give out free bread anymore going as far as to say there isn't any when it's in plain view.
This place used to be good, but has gone downhill quickly unfortunately.
The food and service are terrible, and in Manhattan where there are a million options for dinner that doesn't bode well for them. Stay away -

San Francisco, CAThis is a good place to go with a crowd and you don't have to worry about one person getting stuck with bill as everyone gets a card and everyone pays for whatever they themselves order
Paying when you depart was convenient for our crowd of 16
You do have to get your own utensils, drinks, even your own water.
Plus you walk up to chef, place your order, and stand there while he cooks it then you carry it all back to your table on a tray.
It's very reasonably priced for NYC right by Union Square. No tipping
I had the basil and tomatoes on whole wheat pasta with a side Caesar salad. It was ok. But one of our group ordered the creamy primavera and it was great.. -

FLUSHING, NYPretty cool looking pasta place I've ever been to. It has a very nice lounge feeling and the furniture is super modern. I've so far separated it into 4 sections. The front being the super lounge area with the nice couches. The main "cafe" area with the long wooden tables and high chairs. Upstairs I think is more of a "dining" area (haven't sat upstairs yet; love the lounge chairs too much). Lastly, there's a lovely hip looking bar between the lounge and cafe area.
I was kind of excited about how you were suppose to order food the first time I went. They first give you a card. Then you go to the back with it near this awesome looking kitchen with the chefs cooking your food in front of you. You get to customize your own pasta/pizza too (I mean, more then you do at subways). I wasn't a pasta expert, so I told the chef to give me whatever he thought best with antipasti. After you order, you scan your red card thing on this censor thing, which you bring to the front to pay with later (super tech I know!).
Anyways, the pasta wasn't too spectacular and the bread was a bit hard to bite on, I practically drowned it in olive oil. But I definitely will have to come back and try the billions of other combinations here!
Otherwise, it's a very cool place to bring a group of friends. It does get VERY crowded during lunch and esp. dinner time. And it is a bit pricey, but worth a try.-

Manhattan, NYBasically a cafeteria, food took a while to cook and when it's a line of just 4-5 people in front of you it takes a while! Ravioli was more pasta than meat, and creamy tomato sauce was a little watery, so not that great food. Wine was $8.50 for a glass of sauv blanc and complemented the overall cheapness of the place. Would only go here when all other options are exhausted, which they were. Not good for date spot since it's all do it yourself and you have to wait too long -

New York, NYMeh. As other reviewers noted, the convoluted ordering system just makes this place way more complicated than it should be. And you will not be waited upon, so it's very much dining hall style (plus a nice, velvety ambience). You get a card, use the card to charge your order at whatever food station (pasta, pizza, etc) you prefer, grab a buzzer, then wait a good thirty minutes for your food, standing or sitting if you're lucky. If they're trying to get less people to come in, they also fail at it as it can get very crowded ;)
The toscana pizza was fresh and yummy, but the pasta was nothing to write home about (and the line for that took way longer). I'll opt for other places around Union Square to get my carb fix - with a much more convenient ordering system that doesn't consume so much of my time! -

Came here once last year for food, but it really wasn't that memorable. I'm going to reserve judgement about it until I try it again. So this review is just for the bar and ambience.
Came here to a) escape from the rain and b) for my friend's belated 21st after work drink session. As we are avid Yelpers, we decided on this place because of the BOGO deal for Aperol Spritz (I never say no to Prosecco). $4 per cocktail? YES PLEASE. THAT'S BETTER THAN HAPPY HOUR. It was amazing and I can't wait to go back. Great place to wind down with a couple of friends.
This place would be great for large groups because of the card system! Each person gets a card to order whatever they want. No more hassle around split checks! As for the layout, there is ample seating. However, sometimes smaller groups would sit at large tables, which sort of puts a damper on coming with large groups.
They also have a in-house greenhouse for the potted plants! Always a fan of real plants (I'm looking at you Hu Kitchen, and your plastic plants and pompous food.)-
