Well, first, from an official website NOTE CRIME STATISTICS LINK UNDER BERNTSEN'S NAME....BY THE WAY, look at the incredible drop in crime from 1990 to 2012, in some categories it is nothing short of amazing...people used to say this was just a nationwide trend, but sadly, I know people who were living on the "Gold Coast" of Chicago (they moved out West finally this year) where both in the City as a whole and in their neighborhood the picture was not anywhere near as bright as this..in fact, one woman I know there waited 30 minutes for the cops to show up while passersby by held down a crazed man who had attacked her out of nowhere and tore her rotator cuff--this was right next to Lake Shore Drive-- until the perpetrator got a second wind and threw everybody off him and ran away...stories like this are still typical there.

The drastic reductions in crime certainly would not have been possible without the dedication and cooperation of the community that we serve. We would like to thank all of the members of the 19th Precinct community for their support throughout the year. We would like to invite all of you that are interested in becoming involved to take a look at the listing of civilian participation programs included in this site. One of the programs that has become particularly popular this past year is Community on Patrol. In this program participants are trained in how to be the eyes and ears of the Police Department. These volunteers patrol their block in a bright orange jacket that also acts as a deterent to crime. In certain circumstances volunteers are also equipped with cellphones that were generously donated by Bell Atlantic Mobile/Verizon. It is programs like this one and the others that the Police Department offers that make our community safe for everyone. | |

Yessir, I'm reviewing a police station.
They didn't serve me delicious vegetarian food or pour me any wine, but they were efficient and just plain nice in helping me file a report for my stolen wallet yesterday.
There are some jobs where it's extra-hard to maintain a pleasant attitude, and I'd imagine this is one on the top of the list. So, unless they prove otherwise in some future experience, 5 stars. -

New York, NYWorst precinct in NYC. Officers are completely disrespectful to women who need assistance. Laugh about DV. Officers taking bribes as "consulting" fees. No Community Affairs support of any kind. Director hangs up phone.. Stolen wallets are about all they can handle.
Pass this by and go to DA.
