Who goes to the Banshee Pub?

Posted on 20:13 by Unknown
Who wants to go to a place called the Banshee Pub? Is it a wild environment, I wonder//

Let us see what Yelp says-Interesting, seems to be just another neighborhood place people like ( a couple of people say it is their favorite local bar), yet one non-white person says they were badly discriminated against there

Pretty standard bar with a good amount of seating. I came here on a wednesday, it was really crowded/loud for the trivia but it died down instantly when trivia was over, which is often the case!

For having such a cool name like Banshee Pub (banshees are kind of cool and scary) this place kind of sucks.  It's just your average dirty Irish pub with almost nothing delicious on tap (hey, get with the picture like every other bar and get at least one or two craft beers!).

I could live with never visiting this place again.

The Banshee Pub is a great neighborhood bar and I frequent it often. In all honesty, I can completely understand all the "eh, kind of bar" reviews -- this bar doesn't have special decor, events, etc. to make it stand out. However, this Irish Pub has a great bartender and there is a fantastic atmosphere when it's bustling (and even when it's not, it's a chill bar). In addition, there are regular weekly events -- Wednesday nights are trivia nights (come play!), Thursdays are guest bartender nights and Saturdays are live music nights.

Note that this place doesn't take credit card for tabs under $20 and there is no food service, but BYOFood or ordering delivery is accepted. Also make sure to check out the sister pubs -- The Gael Pub and Trinity Pub. Go hang out!!

Nasty and rude bartender named Mark. Unattentive and just nasty. Nothing interesting on tap.

Great neighborhood bar with many locals/regulars from the area. Friendly and attentive bartenders. Good place to chill. They have dartboards.

Been there for Trivia a bunch of times.

    Decent Trivia, decent atmosphere.

But make sure you leave AT LEAST A 20% tip at the bar, or else Mark will come to your table and single you out for not doing so.

I left him 15% (all he gave us was three pitchers of beer) and he came over to yell at us for not tipping him enough.

Definitely a neighborhood bar.  It's not trendy, but great if you want a casual/laid back atmosphere.  The lighting is pretty dark in the front of the bar.

There is a table immediately to your right when you walk in the door and we sat near there.  Steam literally (and periodically) comes out of their radiators/heating system...so much so that it can get really hot.  It actually looks like a sauna.  We let one of the bus boys know about this because we thought the pipe was about to burst, but he waved if off by saying that it happens all the time.  It was kind of funny, but a little strange all at the same time.

There are dart boards in the back.

This pub is outstanding. The bartender, Gavin, never forgot my name the whole night  my very first time here and was amazing to talk to. He helped introduce my friend to some new Scottish bands as well.

This pub is really nice on the inside, lots of booths and little nooks to take a date where you can actually talk. I've also seen it be really loud, when there was live entertainment. It does get it's fair share of UES bankers and yuppies, but it also has some really interesting cool people as well. They don't have any food, but will be happy to provide you with a binder of menus and you can get delivery there. (I've had pizza delivered without a problem a couple of times)

This is just a great, laid back, irish pub. I love this place and highly recommend it as a great place to hang out, or bring a date to have a drink and talk.

this is an Eh kind of bar.  It really doesnt have anything special that any other bar in the neighborhood has.  There aren't that many options for draft beer and they are 6 bucks each to top it off.  Maybe they are trying to keep this bar as quiet and avoid the stumble inn crowd around the corner.  Im thinking they should adopt a happy medium.
There isn't a kitchen here so if you want to eat you can order food from anywhere and have it delivered.  I guess thats pretty cool but then again, youre eating takeout from another restaurant at a bar.

my favorite bar on the upper east side.  Has been since 2006.  I first discovered it with my friend Mark because it shared the same name as BANSHEE in Scranton.  And well...if you have fond memories in one place, why cant you get fond memories in a place with the same name??

I returned when 5 W had a hospital party there.   I love it cause they place RHCP on their ipod.   My fav bar tender used to really hook us up with free drinks and he was from my hometown Maspeth!  Unfortunately he no longer works there :(

My hospital crew enjoyed meeting up there, as did my Maspeth friends.

This isnt a really good first review...how do you describe love for a bar?   We always had  a good.night.here!   End credits.

The bar was bangin' on February 3 as Jackson-Curtis was at the mike and on the strings. They made and make Banshee Pub a can't miss spot. Keep your eyes open for when this duo appears and get yourself there.

I'm a hardened New Yorker and do not think that people are out to get me because of the color of my skin...

However, the banshee pub bartenders do rub me the wrong way! On a couple of occasions they have been assholes to me despite me being  a well paying customer. Look this is 2012, if you're going to open a bar in manhattan, you will have a non-white person walk in with a white date. Deal with it in your head, but don't give them bad service and then try and hit on their date. THAT IS NOT COOL. Why can't we just get along...
