College Park, MDI came here on a Saturday early evening. The decor was pretty standard and the servers were nice. Since I don't drink, I didn't order any alcohol.
I just ordered two sushi rolls (tempura and spider). Both of those were large for me and very tasty.
They have an all you can eat menu with their sushi, which looked HUGE. I'd come back to try more of their sushi. It is on the slightly pricey side, though. -

Bristow, VAPortions here are pretty decent. However, the lunch prices seemed a bit high. The restaurant smelled like fish, and not in a good way. It smelled weird.
Ordered orange chicken which was pretty good. Only annoying thing was that my entree had about 60% vegetables and 40% chicken. The vegetable were chunky and awkward to eat. They didn't really taste completely steamed or sauteed.
Probably won't come here again. Food was alright, service was average. Maybe would have been nicer if the waitresses wouldn't stand in a corner and stare at us... -

The good thing about this place is its cheap with great deals. The bad thing about this place is its cheap with great deals. I've been here twice and the scene is the same: guys in polo and boat shoes, doesn't matter if its winter or summer. Tables with pitchers of beer overflowing and people yelling so loud I wouldn't be surprised if my ear drum burst.
I feel bad for people that come here to enjoy a meal, because every 5 seconds you have to turn around give someone the evil eye saying "you're loud shut up".
If you are looking for a non-alcoholic drink I suggest the strawberry slush! I drank it down so fast!
The service is on point.And portions are very large.
$1 sushi/sashmi is hard to beat, but is it really worth the price? not sure.
I'd come here more often if I didn't feel this was a college pregame spot. -

Manhattan, NYI really like Chinatown.
1) Sushi is good and fresh.
2) They have a great lunch special - 2 rolls and soup that is $7.25. You are limited to the rolls on their list, but still a good deal.
3) They have a great AYCD/AYCE dinner special for $33. Now, this can or can't be good - I find I can't really eat more than 2 rolls, but if I get AYCE I end up eating more - but - the two rolls I like are around $17, you add the option for AYCD for $12 - and I'm at $29 already. So it's always a debate.
4) They are friendly.
5) They have a 3 roll special for $10. It's in the menu - mostly vegetarian options, but still, inexpensive.
However, it has its drawbacks.
1) Service - isn't amazing, but isn't bad. Just average - which in Manhattan, well, I guess is better than average. However, if you are there on one of the busier nights of the week (Fridays and Saturdays.. sometimes Thursdays) it will definitely wane as the place will be packed and there will be too many people for servers.
2) Fridays/Saturdays. It is packed. And it is packed with 21 year-olds doing sake bombs for AYCD. Beware. It is loud.
3) Tables are on top of each other. Once you are seated in the corner, it's hard to get in and out of your table to use the restroom.
I will definitely be back. -

New York, NYWe attended a friend's birthday here and sat in a secluded backroom where several tables were wedged together in an L-shape to accommodate our group. The room was very dimly lit, not by choice. Only one or two of the overhead lights were working. We were only given the All You Can Eat Sushi menus (no other options for our large party) so we decided to go with the flow and enjoy. The problem with All You Can Eat is, it depends greatly on the likelihood that your server will visit you enough times during the 2-hour time limit you're given to make it worth the cost ($33+/person). We got two sushi plates a piece and two rounds of drinks (at best). While the servers were very pleasant, the lack of attention was less than thrilling. Personally, I could have paid per item and come out paying less than I did for the All You Can Eat price. -

Los Angeles, CABasically my worst nightmare.
Allow me to paint a picture to help you decide if this is your kinda place: it's Saturday night at 7pm, and everyone's heartily drunk. Every few minutes you'll hear the heart-stopping THUMP of fists pounding the table, following by the clink and plop of sake cups falling into beer glasses (aka sake bombs). Sometimes a drunken, unintelligible chant will precede this process; sometimes it'll swell and fill the room for seemingly no reason. The waitresses, who somehow manage to look simultaneously jaded and confused, bring the check immediately after the table orders. When the food finally arrives, each plate is heralded with frantic shouts of their contents: "RAINBOW AND PHILADELPHIA ROLL!?!?" After waving the plate over the customers' heads, it finally finds a spot in front of someone at the table who had probably conceded, "Eh, close enough."
The food itself isn't terrible, but definitely isn't worth the effort to first flag down the waitresses, and second to make sure you get the correct order. Though they're pretty good at throwing more pitchers of all-you-can-drink beer and sake at you while you wait.
So yeah, if you're over 25, it might not be the place you're looking for. -

New York, NYThe food is pretty good, and the selection is excellent. The service is solid. I'm a fan of the atmosphere. You'll always see a couple tables dropping sake bombs, which is always a fun vibe, but not annoying or anything like that. Pretty fast delivery too. -

East Lansing, MIHOLY FRIED Dumpling! Great atmosphere.. I mean I hear old school Usher playing... can't go wrong. Pan Fried dumplings were outstanding.. even better was their SAUCE. I am a sauce girl so this sold me completely. It was about noon time when we stopped in but I felt it necessary to order the Rose Lychee drink.... Best COCKTAIL Ever! Our server was attentive and even laughed at my boyfriends ridiculous jokes.
Their sushi menu also looked so good. The overall menu is kind of intimidating but... I bet it's all YUMMY!-

All you can eat sushi rolls and sake bombing. Can you go wrong? You have to be ready for some crazy drinking, because the place gets a little out of hand on weekends. It is loud and all the tables are doing sake bombs left and right. Getting the sushi is pretty slow coming out, so if you think you are gonna eat a lot, order a bunch up front (versus order 2 rolls at a time). Make sure you finish it though since I believe you pay for what you don't eat.
Caters really big groups (I had a bday party here for 15 ppl on a Saturday night). Just make sure you call in advance because reservations go fast on weekends!
I would give 4 stars, but extremely slow serving rolls. Extremely. New Ashiya (lower east side) was faster for bigger groups...but Chinatown Restaurant is more "lounge-club" ambiance. -

Brooklyn, NYMy reason for venturing up here was a night out with friends and AYCE sushi and AYC Drink for $32. This includes: sushi, moki, special rolls (that was pretty cool), sake bomb, house sake (hot), beer (sapporo, heineken, tsingtao, bud, coors light) & wine (red or white).
The beverages are what they are. Not amazingly delicious by any means, but hey, it's part of the AYCE & D menu. The rolls were pretty good, and it's nice that you can get special rolls. Some places don't include this in the AYCE menu.
It's really a college crowd atmosphere... Really loud, lots of guys. Lots of sake bomb calls. Go early, try to make reservations. It's not terrible for AYCE, but be prepared for the crazy. The service isn't too shabby either.Listed in: The Yelp 100 Challenge - NYC…
